How to use adhd in a sentence?
I grew up being called lazy in periods of time when I wasn't, if you look at a list of all the various ADHD symptoms, I have all of them to one degree or another, but the only ones ever discussed with me was you might be less focused and more fidgety.
It could be that the last several years have seen an increased ability, or willingness, to recognize that older adolescents who are still struggling could require more formal help and support, alternatively, it could be that increased pressures on adolescents to perform and achieve are leading to a push for more ADHD assessments.
Promoting fidgeting is a common method for managing attention regulation, for some people (with ADHD), there's a need for constant stimulation.
First, though the analyses are done well they demonstrate a very small correlation between digital media use and non-clinical measure of the ADHD symptoms. This means the study is a proof of concept that tells us we need very large samples when we design future studies because the possible effects are extremely small, second, the study doesn't measure either digital media use or ADHD directly. For both the study relies on survey responses provided by the student in question. It is not clear if teachers or parents would rate the children similarly or if the self-reported measure of digital screen use is correlated with either actual behaviour or higher quality survey items.
For some people [with ADHD], there's a need for constant stimulation, what a fidget allows some people -- not all people -- with ADHD to do is to focus their attention on what they want to focus on, because there's sort of a background motion that's occupying that need.
